Just a thought for these lists Thomas, maybe for next year, what about including in brackets last years total besides this years, like you do for the positions?

20 (19) GUNS N ROSES – Paradise City – 838.9M
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
- (-) MICHAEL JACKSON – Beat It – 818.8M
- (-) AC/DC – You Shook Me All Night Long – 810.3M
- (20) U2 – With Or Without You – 807.0M
Top 3 is same as last year, but now just 16.5M seperate #1 and #3!
And both GnR and Police are approahing fast from behind too. There are less than 80M seperating the top 5.
There's a new entry of course for Kate Bush. The "Stranger Things" hit enters at #19. "Running" still have over a million plays a day, could she reach the top 10 next year?
U2's biggest hit is pushed out of the list by Kate, with MJ and AC/DC also overtaking With or Without.
GnR's "Appetite" still have 3 tracks in the top 20. Next year all might have passed 1B!
Top 10 in 2022:
1 Kate Bush - Running - 760-770M
2 Police – Breath – 319.2M
3 Tears for Fears – 298.5M
4 GnR – Child – 290.7M
5 A-ha – Take – 286.1M
6 Michael – Billie Jean – 258.2M
7 Wham – Xmas – 253.1M
8 Journey – Believin’ – 252.6M
9 Queen – Dust – 250.2M
10 Bon Jovi – Prayer – 244.7M
Police would have been top of class again in 2022 (like in 21) if it wasn't for the huge success of Kate Bush.
Impressively Tears for Fears were 3rd, hence their #18-13 climb above.
A total of 14 80s tracks topped 200M in 2022, here are the rest:
AC/DC – BIB – 237.8M
Metallica - Master - 222M
Toto – Africa – 216.7M
Queen – Pressure – 200.4M
Is there a reason for the huge jump for TFF? I've noticed for sometime now that the accompanying album is also streaming way above it's usual position.
I'd like to know too, I am a fan of Tears for Fears and I had no idea how big Everybody Wants to Rule the World was. I always thought Shout was the bigger song and more remembered.
I'm glad to see Chuck Berry in the top 10. One of rock's most important figures!

Very strong in 2022 Coolio keep climbing the list. A new entry at #18 two years ago, #10 last year and now #4!
The top 3 are out of his reach though, for now. Oasis have long been king of the 90s, but in 2022 both Mariah and Nirvana have gained a lot on them. Top 3 are now within 36M.
Goo Goo Dolls climb #8-5 and Dr. Dre climb #12-7. Biggie also had a good year and pushes Aerosmith out of the top 20.
Backstreet Boys were only #13 in 2022, and dropped #4-9 overall.
Top ten 90s tracks in 2022 & (2021):
1 Coolio – Gangsta – 353.6M (264.6)
2 Nirvana – Spirit – 338.5M (293.3)
3 Mariah – Xmas – 331.6M (218.7)
4 Dr. Dre – Still – 288.7M (169.3)
5 Goo Goo Dolls – Iris – 268.4M (173.2)
6 Radiohead – Creep – 255.3M (192.0)
7 Oasis – Wonder – 247.9M (251.1)
8 AC/DC – Thunder – 228.4M (210.1)
9 Metallica – Sandman – 222.4M (189.3)
10 Foo Fighters – Everlong – 220.0M (134.7)
------------------------------------------------------------
Nirvana – Come – 212.2M (185.8)
R.E.M. – Religion – 209.3M (177.1)
BB – That Way – 188.3M (184.1)
So 12 tracks from the 90s topped 200M in 2022, compared to 14 from the 80s, 9 from the 70s, none from the 60s and one from the 50s (Brenda Lee).
Hmm, I doubt that. When was the last time Tears for Fears had significant popularity? Probably ages ago. Maybe EWTRTW was used in some tv show or went viral on tik tok.
Yeah mate, just like that, cheers. I want sure if it might look a bit too crowded but it seems ok
Wow, that's a huge increase due strictly to tik tok. Good for them though!
Thomas these lists are a credit to you. So informative. Thank you for all your dedication and hard work. Very much appreciated!

The Killers are the new King of the 00s topping Jason Mraz (as hinted a year ago).
But LOOK OUT! Eminem and Coldplay both come storming from behind!!! The race for 2B is on!
Lots of strong performers from the 90s. Now there are 26 songs with more than a billion plays! Compared to 13 from the 90s, 12 from the 80s, 8 from the 70s and none older.
In spite of poor 2022 performances Snow Patrol and the Fray pass 1B too. Both drop out of the top 20 though.
Miley Cyrus is new and "The Real Slim Shady" by Eminem enter at #13 (from #24)
Strongest of all in 2022 was yet another Eminem hit. "Without Me" climbed #12-9 overall thanks to 438.1M plays in 2022
The top 10 of 2022 & (2021):
1 Eminem – Without – 438.1M (252.4)
2 Coldplay – Yellow – 432.7M (315.7)
3 Eminem – Slim Shady – 383.6M (253.5)
4 Eminem – Lose – 348.5M (224.4)
5 Coldplay – Vida – 328.5M (214.4)
6 Killers – Mr. B – 318.8M (281.9)
7 Eminem – Collapse – 308.8M (240.7)
8 50 Cent – Club – 280.2M (165.4)
9 Linkin – End – 275.4M (259.8)
10 Coldplay – Scientist – 251.8M (214.7)
------------------------------------------------------
Rihanna – Umbrella – 245.9M (213.7)
White Stripes – Army – 243.2M (219.7)
Shakira – Hips – 236.1M (205.5)
Miley – Party – 226.7M (194.8)
Linkin – Numb – 218.7M (203.8)
Gorillaz – Feel Good – 218.5M (190.5)
Mraz – Yours – 218.1M (232.3)
Coldplay – Fix You – 216.5M (185.2)
So in the year 2022 Eminem ruled with 4 in the top 7! And Coldplay had 3 in the top 10, including "Yellow" at #2 - top dog in 2021.
The reason Mraz lost top spot overall is obvious. He was just #17 in 2022! Not good for the previous king of the decade...
In total 18 tracks topped 200M in 2022. Well, maybe more. Eminem's "Stan" is now at 820.2M. I have no idea how well it performed in 2022, but given his 4 tracks on this list all did 300M+ it is quite possible "Stan" topped 200M as well.
Top 20 in 2022 across all decades (50s-00s)
1 Kate Bush – Running – 760-770M (?)
2 Eminem – Without – 438.1M (252.4)
3 Coldplay – Yellow – 432.7M (315.7)
4 Eminem – Slim Shady – 383.6M (253.5)
5 Coolio – Gangsta – 353.6M (264.6)
6 Eminem – Lose – 348.5M (224.4)
7 Queen – Bo Rhap – 339.1M (325.3)
8 Nirvana – Spirit – 338.5M (293.3)
9 Mariah – Xmas – 331.6M (218.7)
10 Coldplay – Vida – 328.5M (214.4)
11 Police – Breath – 319.2M (279.6)
12 Killers – Mr. B – 318.8M (281.9)
13 Eminem – Collapse – 308.8M (240.7)
14 Tears for Fears – 298.5M (194.9)
15 GnR – Child – 290.7M (217.7)
16 Queen – Stop – 289.4M (257.0)
17 Dr. Dre – Still – 288.7M (169.3)
18 A-ha – Take – 286.1M (269.3)
19 50 Cent – Club – 280.2M (165.4)
20 Linkin – End – 275.4M (259.8)
In 2021 just 3 tracks were above 300M. In 2022 there were 13! Bo Rhap was #1 in 2021, down to #7 in 2022.
Unless your name is Kate Bush, it's pretty hard to compete with Eminem, Coldplay and the rest of the 00s-clash.
9 tracks are from the 00s. 4 from the 90s, 5 from the 80s, and none older (60s Beatles' Sun 181.5M / 50s Brenda'a Xmas Tree 235.1M)
Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams" was #3 in 2021 (301.2M), but didn't make the top 20 in 2022 (251.3M). TikTok effect wearing off.
Mr Brightside is another track, like Iris by TGGD, that I just don't understand the insane popularity in the UK. Where did it come from, how did it happen. It was never that big a hit and didn't seem to have as much of an impact on the public, as other tracks from the same year/time, but my word it certainly has since then.
Personally, I've always preferred All These Things That I've Done, which I love and think is a fantastic and much better track.
Jump is by far Van Halen's biggest track, but hardly their best. Same with Wind of Change/Scorpions and I Don't Want to Miss a Thing/Aerosmith. Granted those were hits to begin with.
I can say that Mr. Brightside was always very popular in America. I was in college when it was big and my god, people listened to that song all the time. Constantly. To the point where a lot of people were sick of it. I'm sure it was the same in other campuses across the country. I think The Killers have many great hits (and album cuts) like Jennie was a Friend of Mine that are just as good though.
Not really a fan of VH, but I do prefer Hagar to Roth, Why Can't This Be Love is probably my fave by them.
I can't stand Aerosmiths IDWTMAT and really dislike the fact that it is easily their most popular track in most countries around the world. Give me something like Dream On, Sweet Emotion, Angel, Back In The Saddle or Movin Out any day of the week.
I don't think Stairway is Zeps best either, I personally would go for things like Fool In The Rain, The Rain Song, Gallows Pole, Your Time Is Gonna or When The Levee Breaks.
Yeah, it was popular in the UK as well, but it just never seemed to be that popular, certainly not the crazy popular that it's become here. I really like Caution of their last album, probably my 2nd favourite track by them after ATTID.
Think you forgot about the 2 Queen tracks from the 70s,in your write up Dane.
