So excited with this Beatles updates. Comparing the numbers of pure albums sales with the oldest numbers, there are important jumps mainly in Latam, Rest of Asia, Japan, Canada or Usa, but in Australia and Europe they stay similar with incresases and decreases depending of the album and country (Though in UK they increased in mosts albums).
Albums like Band On The Run lost a lot from Compilation sales. Something change in the streams that you considered from the Beatles songs in the lives albums?
His total was around 120m just a week or two ago before the latest adjustments. His ranking amongst those studied was 47.
I have a feeling that the Beatles will be well above 500m EAS after the update.
Hello,
McCartney took the bass in July 1961 (and not in 1960 as stated in the article) when Stuart Sutcliffe quit the band and decided to continue painting
His total album sales in the "Artist Career Totals" table tallies up to 84.009.000 album sales, while the "Bonus: Total Album Sales' chart says his career total is 93.564.000 album sales. Which one should be taken as the leading amount, and how did this disparity come to be?
I would guess that once the remaining sections of the update are complete (compilations, streams etc) and the Beatles material formally attributed to the respective members has been re-assigned then we are probably looking at somewhere around 465 million EAS.
Pure speculation on my part though. It will certainly be an interesting update once all the figures are in...
Hi Novellos!
As stated elsewhere, a bunch of his sales (mostly from his live releases) are attributed to the Beatles' albums, are they are essentially selling on the back of their hits. So McCartney sold 93.5 million albums under his name, but once we add EPs, videos, multiply box sets, and remove sales that go to the Beatles (over 13m in total), he is left with 84 million equivalent album sales.
