I think there's a typo for Australia born to die number 240,000 instead of 140,000.
Also do you know if any of lana's Songs are eligible for any sort of certification in the US?
Hi Nid!
There is no typo, the BTD album was indeed 2xP in Australia, but it is only for the first edition. The edition containing Paradise went Platinum on its own and obviously both albums haven't stop selling 'just' at their level of certification! The figure of 240k is an up to date estimate of both versions combined.
Thanks for the clarification! Also in Sweden btd paradise edition is certified 2x plat so why only put 15k?
Hi Nid!
Streaming took over sales very early in Sweden. BTD achieved most of its chart units in late 2013 / early 2014 when sales were almost dead which is why they account for a minor part of its certification!
Really good article. Are you going to be updating the sales any time soon specifically Honeymoon & LFL sales? Thanks 🙂
I believe this deserves an update.. it's been so long! Born To Die is doing amazingly in longevity. The latter should be at around 11.5M-12M CSPC?? Considering it has over 3B on Spotify.
Hope it can get updated soon.
Can you update this please? BTD sold an extra 400k in the USA alone. She also released 3 new albums after LFL. Kesha and Pink should be studied/updated if you like. Regardless, have a great day.
Lana truly deserves an update as well as a re-evaluation of the comments. In the last update in 2017, it looked like she was a one-album wonder with no consistency. Now I believe her numbers are much healthier with her first five albums over the 2M mark (unless I'm mistaken) indicating a stable fanbase. Ultraviolence has also impressed on streaming, well over 3M units now and not as nasty a drop from Born to Die as it was at first.
wow ..nfr is shaping up to be a classic .. it does 200k less than albums like thank u next on spotify daily is impressive

Lust For Life Sold 160k copies in China in Digital format.
Please add these sales.
Born To Die is certainly a modern classic who will probably pass the 20 mln mark in a matter of years. However I think that Lana's best albums are Ultraviolence and Norman Fucking Rockwell. I'm glad to see that those albums have gained some traction through the years
I don’t think you can compare streaming and pre streaming albums they’re totally different. Take an album like Thriller, Dark side of the moon or Back in Black. If you removed every CD, LP and cassette from around the world and the only way people could listen to music would be from streaming then you’d see things looking very different. The streaming demographic is heavily weighted towards people that can’t afford to buy music, hence the massive streaming from Latin America and Asia.
Anyway BTD will always have many more pure sales than Pure Heces and that hurts you Frank lol.
why does Wikipedia says that both lust for life and norman f rockwell have more than 100 kk in UK alone but here is diferent? Wikipedia count with streams??
Your young and beautiful streams were counted wrong here, theres another version with 550m streams that you forgot to combine(the cedric gervais remix) and shes counted as a lead artist too
heres the remix:
https://open.spotify.com/album/6tGPYsY5jtQpu8qqQP3UPr?si=IQH85nRjSOKkPDOp3_sE4w
That just appears to be a glitch as that 554,951,919 number is the exact same as the Summertime Sadness remix with Cedric Gervais. If you check Cedric's main page, the Young and Beautiful remix is only listed as having 21.7M plays.
In the seven months since this article she has accelerated even more on streaming. The new album is doing very good numbers too, a recovery from the last two records which feel more like hastily released side projects. She proves that with the right marketing she can have another 'event' album. By the end of the decade I think she will be in the 60-70M range or possibly higher.
