As I expected outside of North America and Oceania Iron Maiden are superior to Metallica. In Brazil they are considered half gods, while in three of the four main European markets (UK + France + Italy) they have much higher sales.
Despite this they cannot even surpass Van Halen as a total album, the North American market is too vast and is the master.
Somewhere in time is my favorite. Followed by piece of mind then number o'the beast.

As for all the Satanic shit. I don’t get it. It’s just fun drawings, playing on peoples stupid and misconstrued ideas about this kind of music. That crowd in the 80s, Tipper Gore and the PMRC, were fucking nut jobs. As was all that supposed backmasking shit like the Judas Priest trial or the Stairway To Heaven bollocks.

Metal is still very popular and always will be. The image might not appeal to everyone but the drawings were incredible, Derek Riggs is an amazing artist with a brilliant imagination.
Van Halen were huge though. A lot of metal heads prefer Iron Maiden to Metallica, they’re more consistent end never really totally fluffed it with a St Anger type album. Saying that Metallica still sell far more albums.
Actually they are. I assume you consider Metallica to be heavy metal ? They're mostly a thrash metal band.
