Neil Peart is dead. 🙁
It would be nice if Rush could be next on the list.
Hi ABJ!
Sadly there are a lot of relevant female singers missing. I'm not sure where you set up the criteria but artists like Gloria Estefan, Carole King, Linda Ronstadt, Reba McEntire, Tina Turner and more are still need to be completed!
Hi Rell!
They are definitely not 'lucky' with how things went, several times we though about working on them but some news changed plans. At least the fact that their article is not out means that Sting isn't dead, let's be happy about that 😉
Jokes apart, Police are definitely climbing to the very top ladder of our priority list now and once we published the 3 artists we committed on, they will come very soon!
Toni Braxton, Cyndi Lauper, Tina Turner, Sting, The Police, Donna Summer, Diana Ross, The Supremes, Missy Elliott, Nicki Minaj, Lil’Kim, Outkast, Gwen Stefani, No Doubt, Kate Bush, Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Carly Simon, Frank Sinatra, Carole King, Nelly Furtado please
Depeche Mode would be great, a rare case of a band who had major success in the US but was even bigger in Europe (Deep Purple is another one).
I'm not a big Genesis fan but I think they're really missing from this site, I mean Phil Collins + Genesis = 230 million albums sold, way more than Madonna for example.
...because Madonna sold 200 million albums ?
To be fair, about 15 million of these Genesis albums are from the Peter Gabriel-era, before Phil Collins became the leader of the band.
Can you do diana ross & the supremes, aretha, donna summer, dolly parton, linda ronstadt, frank sinatra, bing crosby, Julio Iglesias, BigBang, Carole King
How about you read Madonna's analysis before making silly claims? Last time she was studied, she was at 242m EAS.
Not that I want to discuss with a rude Madonna fan but... "EAS" means "equivalent album sales", not actual album sales. Here are the top album sellers according to this very website :
1. The Beatles – 333,145,000 (as of Mar 2017)
2. Elvis Presley – 244,475,000 (as of Sep 2018)
3. Michael Jackson – 235,440,000 (as of Sep 2017)
4. Pink Floyd – 203,010,000 (as of Jun 2017)
5. Madonna – 201,900,000 (as of Aug 2017)
I see, you were talking about pure album sales.
The thing is, EAS is the only way to fairly compare artists.
Some are considered "album sellers" (like Pink Floyd), with very low single sales.
Other considered single sellers, some are very strong compilations sellers, and others are very strong in streaming.
If you check wikipedia's page for "best selling artists of all time", you'll see Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Eminem above Queen and The Rolling Stones, because they measure everything in "records" and don't factor in important ratios.
EAS is the only way to truly compare artists' overall sales.
p.s. I'm not a Madonna fan.
