please let this female be lady gaga... she's huge and i think you under estimated some of her sales (bad romance or telephone for exemple) and you need to add the joanne era! please!
Here's one that's different.
Gary Glitter
Huge in the 70's
resurgence in the 80's
child molester in the 90's
I think it would be an interesting study to see how his deplorable life outside of music affected not only his record sales, but also his airplay or steams.
From what I understand is that stadiums around the U.S. (and maybe the world?) banned Rock N' Roll pt 2 being played at sports events after his conviction. (one of the biggest stadium anthems up to that point.)
with elton coming up next, i guess that leaves 2 huge ones: elvis and barbra. diana too if the supremes sales are added to hers. can't wait for elton!!!
Question: will u be dealing with artists like Nana Mouskouri in the future? And how about artists like Oum Koulthoum and Fairouz (arab singers)? I guess it would be extremely difficult to find reliable info about them, which is a pity cause they sold tons of vinyls and cassettes and later on cds in the arab world and are still played heavily on the radios today.
Hi,
I still didn't see any article on France most popular singer Damien Saez
I think Phil Collins should be studied as he is among the best-selling singers of the 80's and 90's.
And Damien Saez was never a popular singer, he actually sought to be the exact opposite. "Jeune et con" was a huge hit but that was 20 years ago.
