Would you be able to make a list soon of the top 20 or so artists on the "top selling artists" list and how they rank in terms of sales in the top 10 or 20 music markets?
Aretha Franklin should be studied next time around, if you guys EVER overcome Elvis.
Hi MJD!
I think Evanescence would be a very interesting act to study - Fallen is one of the last massive albums of the 2000s remaining, and their discography is very short.
Leona Lewis would also be a great article just because of how weird her rise and fall was - the steep decline she had from Spirit to Echo would surely be among the highest of any album studied so far!
Great idea, love to know the real album sales for iron maiden, black sabbath.
I've been trying to compile the worldwide chart history for the Monkees and adding it to my my site. Would love to see anything you have on them. So far I am spending hours on your site! Love the work you've done on the Beatles.
I would really like to see one on Def Leppard. They're my all-time favourite band and I think they're under-appreciated (not underrated). They've allegedly sold 100 million records worldwide, but for some reason I doubt this. They were so big in North America during the 80s, but it was really with Hysteria and Adrenalize that they had any major success in other international markets (even their native England took a while to catch on!). Even today, besides "Pour Some Sugar on Me" and "Photograph", no one really knows any of their songs! I think they've sold like maybe 75 million copies, but I'm doubtful on 100 million. I also would love to know how many copies Pyromania has sold worldwide excluding the 10 million in the US.
Prince should really be next tho, we gotta see his stats. Oh and now Miss Aretha's too
Stevie Wonder and Prince please! Also it would be great if you could do Sade, they seem to have impressively consistent album sales, over 2 million for each at least, it would be interesting to get a full analysis.
