I'm pretty sure there are music sales forums which wouldn't let someone go in a Janet Jackson thread and say she has "no talent" and "dumb fantards"...
So, to sum up this endless discussion, she is right where she belongs, at almost 80 million EAS, more or less on par with several artists (male and female) with less than brilliant streaming numbers. Some new topics would be nice.
And why don't both of you don't quit this pointless argument? The discussion is full of absurd claims, tainted with hate, and brings nothing interesting. Just let it go!
I always find Janet and Madonna conversations interesting because people get really intense. Janet and Madonna are similar in that they are visual artists and dancers more than singers. They’ve experimented with different sounds. And both had their biggest moments in the ‘80s and ‘90s.
Talent and influence are debatable, but Madonna is bigger than Janet and she always was. Now you can argue that Madonna has an advantage as a white artist while Janet is black and her music is rooted in R&B. Janet was also affected by the Super Bowl, and more info has come available to prove how she was blacklisted. But just on paper, M is bigger—not debatable.
It’s also kind of ridiculous not to acknowledge that family connections helped Janet early in her career. All her acting and music opportunities are a direct result of being a Jackson. She had to have the talent and drive to capitalize on it, but she never had to be “discovered” because her brothers made it for everyone in the family. If anything, Michael and the rest of J5 probably had to worker harder than her to establish themselves as serious adult musicians because people viewed them as a kid act. Does she owe her career to Michael specifically? Absolutely not! But obviously being a Jackson opened doors for her.
Either way, neither Janet or Madonna’s catalogue is composed of timeless hits and their ‘80s songs sound dated even though the collective “we” who grew up listening to it still enjoy it.

I really like Janet; she was one of my favorites growing up. I may have had a few Janet inspired Halloween costumes. Lol
Note that Janet was a B lister a few days ago, then a C lister and now a D lister. Can't wait for Eminemfan to call her an E lister 😆
My takeaway from this "debate" : some people really enjoy getting other people upset in order to start arguments, and some websites are surprisingly tolerant towards this kind of behavior.
Its actually largely thanx to Eminemfan and he is so annoying. Even went to Ed Sheeran page and throw some diss to several other artists. Somebody should really put his comment in the spam/trash section.

Yeah, I was in the tank lately first developping several backend pages to administrate our data, so that I don't have to do it alone anymore, and then finishing Iron Maiden because it had been long enough already, so I haven't pay much attention to messages in these weeks. Also our spam detector plugin validates automatically messages from members that already got one validated message. I saw afterwards that we got flooded with several pointless arguments always involving Eminemfan. I did move to spam some of the latest messages and I'll carefully check the upcoming ones to avoid this unwanted tension!
That's actually false everything Britney done whether in dance, videos, tours anything was all homage if not replicas of Janet how many times Britney said Janet inspired or influence how she did things Britney is Janet biggest follower.
How can you say Janet Jackson not cemented, immortal and legendary when every artist you can think of is influence and name drop Janet as a major influence and inspiration to their work? Almost every day a artist has Janet name in their mouth heck she has an entire Wikipedia page of those she influence and today Janet been getting awards left and right let's not be stupid please and and question her legacy Britney biggest idol is Janet she'll personally tell you that.
The janet. album outsold Erotica, Bedtime Stories and Ray Of Light lol the janet. album sold 20 million Damita Jo would have outsold American Life if she wasn't blacklisted Unbreakable outsold Rebel Heart in the United States still and Janet never promoted that album.
