The world in the 60s was very different from the 80s. The great wars was just in behind. People had little money.
I agree with your point about the Adele/MJ gap, but I get the parallels between Adele's peak and MJ's. W. Houston was already an established mega seller when she peaked with the Bodyguard album. Adele was pretty much unknown outside of the UK/Netherlands pre-21. Imo, that makes it the most impressive female album, and 21st century album, of all time (in terms of sales), how quickly she went from an unknown to the biggest star on Earth . Just like MJ destroyed the competition with Thriller + Bad during the 80s and the 20th century, Adele has destroyed the competition with 21 + 25 in the 10s and the 21st century.
19 US Sales - 35.7%
21 US Sales - 40.3%
25 US Sales - 46.4%
Just found it interesting lol
Her first album was very British, her second one less so (half of the songs produced/co-written by Americans) and the third one even less so, with barely any British collaborators and the main song (Hello) produced and co-written by an American.
First sold nearly 6 million outside usa
Second sold nearly 18 million outside usa
Third sold nearly 11 million outside usa
Even without usa, these albums would've been blockbusters
Dont look at the ratio. Look at numbers
Her ticketing demand is crazy . For 130k tickets at hyde park, 1.3 million people lined up for crazy expensive tickets for pre sale and it hasn't even gone for general sale. She can go full stadium tour this time with more than 100 shows and sell out them in couple of days, as she is no more scared of touring like before and shatter every female record , as last time she sold million tickets from her 13 stadium shows and set record at every venue. Literally noone can match her power
( we know ed will have overall, bcoz he will do 10 years multiple tours and name it one ). I guess, even if album doesn't have much sales from pure, her record label must get cut from tour because of her big contract. That's why they spend tens of millions on promo campaign , because they gonna make 100s of millions in profit because of her power.. Real money is touring now.
She won't survive the streaming era, many Karen's said. Most preadded record on apple now! I think She gonna have ten million eas from streaming for 30 by end of 2023, considering she is smashing on apple, a hard format for main pop girls with a 12 song album ( disadvantage ). Now if overall touched 20 million plus or not will depend on pure sales. Ed sheeran admitted she has vinyl factories booked out. That man who is so global himself.
I think she can do ten million in sales and overall 20 million by 2023 end! And it will keep adding every year. SO 30 can end up as biggest album from mpg since her own 25. Damn Adele, THE MUSIC INDUSTRY who even scared ed, taylor ! Physicals, downloads, and now streaming. She has it all. By decade end her career total will be around 130 million eas, with just 4 albums. And she will have 5th album too. They way she has hold on gp . No artist come close. She is once in generational artist. Her hits are classics and have better streams than mpgs from digital era gen. What an average. And stadium tour incoming too
Her official fan page run by her own team!

30 is most preadded album om apple breaking billie record ( which was 1 million ). It has 3 more weeks left. So how many 1 million apple preoders = to how many albums?. Thnx in advance.
I really think by end of 2021, it will have added 10 million eas from streams alone with just 12 song album. Now it can do 15 million or 20 million plus will depend on pure sales. If it does 10 million pure sales, she will be at 20 million eas by 2023 end and it will keep adding as catalog. It might end up as biggest era since divide and biggest female era since 25. Damn Adele having 3 albums over 20 million eas will be amazing achievement for artist debuting in 2008.
Yup, it's so ironic that someone who is always called “the music industry” by her fans removed the date of release lol
as I expected, 30 massively underperformed in comparison to 25... and seeing that this album will be even more frontloaded than 25 it's really not looking good for it.
How did it underperform?
It's expected to sell million in a week which is considered impossible in todays climate.
Low streams are because she has lots of physicals.
the 1 million figure reported was "copies available currently to be sold" aka shipments, not sales.
her vinyls have been discounted before release AND are on sale in all US retailers.
and weirdly enough HITS DAILY DOUBLE haven't reported any predictions yet which is extremely suspricious since they always do it on Saturdays.
it really sounds like it is not selling like her label anticipated and the streams lead me to believe that even more...
the idea of "Low streams are because she has lots of physicals" is so funny because if there's high consumption/demand it should reflect in all channels.
mark my words, 30 is going to have one of the highest return waves in Nielsen history.
