CSPC: Destiny’s Child Popularity Analysis

Destiny's Child

Original Album Sales – Comments

1998 Destiny’s Child – 2,250,000
1999 The Writing’s on the Wall – 13,070,000
2001 Survivor – 10,070,000
2001 8 Days of Christmas – 1,320,000
2004 Destiny Fulfilled – 6,300,000

The four studio albums of the Destiny’s Child plus one Christmas set combine for 33 million sales. Their back-to-back 10-million sellers at the turn of the century clearly helped in building that total. Interestingly, despite containing one big hit in No, No, No their debut album never managed to really enjoy large catalog sales, a bit like 8 Days of Christmas which was quite short-lived for such a package. Their widely hyped comeback fulfilled expectations with a solid 6,3 million sales.

Out of all the hits, people really choose Bills Bills Bills to go viral on TikTok and I love it.

Hey MJD. Please do a popularity analysis on Boyz 2 Men, TLC and New Edition. They are the biggest rnb groups of the 90s and you even have one for Aaliyah who wasn’t a big crossover success. New Edition is different because the spin off projects did well too ( mainly Bobby Brown) which is unusual for any group so please add that.

Oscar Reyes

Hey can you do a popularity analysis on Fifth Harmony? They debuted the same year as Ariana Grande with a similar amount of releases but they’re pretty much disbanded now and they’re last era flopped pretty hard so it’s not like their numbers are gonna increase much

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
