France Best Selling Albums Ever:
Update Part 7 (20-1)

#20 – 12,000

Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon (1973) : 1 725 000

With both Wish You Were Here and The Wall sitting in the Top 40, there is no surprise at all to see the ultimate Pink Floyd classic, Dark Side of the Moon, make it to the Top 20. Just like their other albums, this latter record was fairly quiet until the last quarter. Never appearing in the Catalog Chart Top 100 before the week 44 of the year, during the last 8 weeks of the year though it moved from positions #7 to #25 on it. Since the introduction of the Comprehensive ranking in 2011, Dark Side of the Moon charted at least 6 weeks every year, proving once again its undeniable lasting appeal.

Are the French really that open to English language artist? I thought France is a really tough market to break into. But seems like they are very open indeed.

Hi MJD! Love your updates on the best selling albums in France.

I want to ask whether there are new addition to the list of million selling albums in France. One example is Adele’s 25 album. Is it close to the million threshold? Other albums i remember close to that mark are AC/DC Highway to Hell, a couple of Sade albums etc. Have they surpassed 1 million copies in France?

Looking forward for your next project!
