The year 2017 was his. The last singer who crushed Worldwide charts the same way than Ed Sheeran did last year was Adele back in 2011. The era of Divide, his third and last effort, is still far from over but it is the perfect timing to check his achievements now that annual listings are out.
Shape Of You and Castle On The Hill were released one year ago, in January 6 2017, marking the start of an historical campaign. The success of Sheeran doesn’t need to be demonstrated anymore as he recorded an incredible list of records at only 26. His real sales are up for debate though due to the ways of accounting for sales and streams which differ in every country. We will review accurately his discography, format by format, to get a clearer picture of his results so far.
As usual, I’ll be using the Commensurate Sales to Popularity Concept in order to relevantly gauge his results. This concept will not only bring you sales information for all Sheeran‘s albums, physical and download singles, as well as audio and video streaming, but it will also determine their true popularity. If you are not yet familiar with the CSPC method, the next page explains it with a short video. I fully recommend watching the video before getting into the sales figures. Of course, if you are a regular visitor feel free to skip the video and get into the figures.
