Streaming World: Back To 2012

2012 TOP 60 HITS – 51 to 55

The Weeknd was fairly unknown in 2012 while it was impossible to miss PSY. Time played his role though. The Canadian singer has been growing a lot since, fueling his catalog like crazy. On his side, Psy continued to be successful in South Korea but failed to remain big Worldwide, although Gangnam Style still registers recurrent streams to figure so high here, and obviously even much higher at YouTube. It is nowhere near as it was in first place since the song was then the #3 song of the year as per the IFPI.

Alicia Keys faced mixed fortunes since then but Girl On Fire continue to attract streamers with more than 160 million plays. The same can be said about Train and their song Drive By.

The album Born to Die by Lana Del Rey, is already rated as a classic and sends already a second song into the list with the title track.

  1. Born to die really is a streaming monster, she is one of the top 10 most streamed females on spotify!
i wonder how ultraviolence would do in a 2014 list

  2. Carly Rae Jepsen has actually had a couple of other hits since “Call me maybe”. “Good time”, with owl City, was a top 10 hit in various markets (US, UK, Japan, France, Belgium, Australia). “I really like you” was a european hit in 2015 (#3 in the UK, top 20 in The Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Germany, Denmark). It also reached the top 20 in her native Canada and Japan. Well, that’s about it. 🙂
