Streaming World: Back To 2012

2012 TOP 100 HITS – #6

Lana Del Rey – Summertime Sadness – 442 221 000

The #1 female hit of the list is signed by Lana Del Rey who’s also the only female with more than 2 songs charted – she has 4. Summertime Sadness is the kind of songs that sticks around and then never leaves.

It wasn’t a big #1 smash – it peaked at #6 in the US and #4 in the UK, on both thanks to the Cédric Gervais remix. But the song was streamed a lot and continues to be so. Its parent album, Born to Die, is one of the biggest records from 2012 at Spotify. Its ongoing streams and sales enable it to constantly feature inside the Billboard BB200 Album Chart. Considering those numbers, this situation isn’t going to change anytime soon.

  1. Born to die really is a streaming monster, she is one of the top 10 most streamed females on spotify!
i wonder how ultraviolence would do in a 2014 list

  2. Carly Rae Jepsen has actually had a couple of other hits since “Call me maybe”. “Good time”, with owl City, was a top 10 hit in various markets (US, UK, Japan, France, Belgium, Australia). “I really like you” was a european hit in 2015 (#3 in the UK, top 20 in The Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Germany, Denmark). It also reached the top 20 in her native Canada and Japan. Well, that’s about it. 🙂
