Britney Spears CAREER CSPC RESULTS
So, after checking all the figures, how many overall equivalent album sales has each Britney album achieved? Well, at this point we hardly need to add up all of the figures defined in this article!
In the following table, all categories display figures that way, e.g. in equivalent album sales. For example, singles from In The Zone released in digital format sold the equivalent of 1,200,000 albums – 8,000,000 downloads with a 10 to 1,5 weighting.
As a reminder:
- Studio Album: sales of the original album
- Other Releases: sales of compilations generated thanks to the album
- Physical Singles: sales of physical singles from the album (ratio 3/10)
- Download Singles: sales of digital singles from the album (ratio 1,5/10)
- Streaming: equivalent album sales of all the album tracks (ratio 1/1500 for Audio stream and 1/11750 for Video stream)
This is it! There is little surprise in seeing …Baby One More Time as Britney‘s biggest album to date. The question was on the album being over 30 million or not, a figure it indeed reaches at 30,8 million, helped notably by its physical singles. Low digital and streaming figures plus low catalog album sales imply that this tally won’t be climbing much in the upcoming months and years.
Among her early albums, the one impressing the most is In The Zone. Its CSPC total isn’t tht far from the one of Britney, and it is also the highest gainer outside of pure album sales after BOMT. This is one of the reason we can appreciate CSPC so much as it gives back justice to various albums that had their success spread over many formats, making their popularity look lower due to album sales not fully covering it. Upcoming years will increase this trend as In The Zone is her album with the highest strength, thus with streaming and digital sales pushing the bar faster. It will also catch its predecessors thanks to compilations being sold on the back of its songs.
A similar situation happens with albums Blackout and Femme Fatale. The latter seems much weaker than the former but CSPC results prove they are almost on par, with Femme Fatale now increasing at a faster rate, it will be ahead at some point in the future. This brings also the answer about Blackout. Many fans denied the album was a flop, arguing about the different market. These figures show sales weren’t translated to some other format, it was just truly unsuccessful, just like Britney Jean.
The result of Glory is a small blow of fate at 760,000 equivalent album sales.
While Britney Spears difficulties to break the streaming market can be worrying for her future albums, the highlight of today is the eyes catching total of 100,8 million equivalent album sales she managed since her debut. She is the first female artist to break the 9 digits milestone since Mariah Carey.
The following pages list her most successful songs. Do not forget to check our amazing cross-artists lists posted inside the CSPC: Data Collector which includes the full listing of all CSPC results compiled so far to better gauge her position in the history of the music industry.
