With a total of almost 68,9 million copies sold from her nine studio albums combined, Britney is one of the best selling artists worldwide since she debuted in 1999.
The success of her first two albums was so extraordinary that it made 10,1 million and 6,9 million sellers somehow disappointing. Although still huge smashes for most artists. In spite of the downward spiral the overall volume of sales for her first four albums remained impressive.
Recent years have been tough for the former teen star though. After hitting the news for non-music related news during her difficult mid-00s years, her comeback to the music industry Blackout was a commercial failure. If Circus, boosted by the hit single Womanizer, reversed the trend and created a lot of hope for following albums, Britney‘s popularity collapsed anew afterwards, reaching an incredible low with Glory which sold a mere 370,000 units.
Obviously, this recent album was released in 2016 with a background completely different than its predecessors due to the boom of streaming. Are sales on those new platforms enough to see Glory at least at the same level as Britney Jean?
